3 Legged Thing’s Patti 2.0 Tripod is Only $130 and Full of Features
3 Legged Thing has announced an updated version of its Patti flip-lock tripod, adding new features and performance to the company’s best-selling general use tripod.
Designed for beginners and photography students, the affordable tripod now incorporates a detachable monopod leg, an updated canopy and column lock, and refined leg locks with a fresh new look.
“We are excited to update our flip-lock tripod to the new Patti 2.0 version,” says Stuart Boston, Chief Operating Officer, 3 Legged Thing. “Patti was already one of our best-selling tripods, and we’re sure retailers and customers will love these new features and refinements.”
The Patti 2.0 includes an AirHed Mini tripod ballhead and ships alongside an Arca-Swiss compatible quick release plate. The tripod includes four leg sections that are extended and closed using ABS flip locks. The single-section center column is removable and reversible. Further, with Patti 2.0, users can unscrew one of the tripod’s legs and attach it to the removable center column to create a full-height monopod.
Concerning the ABS flip locks, the feature a new textured design made to improve grip in various conditions. Another updated feature is the new canopy, which includes a 1/4″-20 screw thread to accept accessory arms for lights and monitors.
The Patti 2.0 has a load capacity of 22 pounds (10 kilograms) and weighs 3.7 pounds (1.7 kilograms). The tripod’s folded length is 17.9 inches (45.5 centimeters) and its maximum height with its center column installed is 64 inches (163 centimeters). Removing the column reduces the max height to just over 52 inches (133 centimeters). The tripod’s minimum working height is about 16 inches (40 centimeters).
The tripod’s revised column lock now matches the other tripods in 3 Legged Things’ Punks 2.0 range, with circular rubber rings and knurling to improve grip in damp conditions. The Patti is the most affordable tripod in the Punks range, which includes the Brian 2.0, Corey 2.0, Travis 2.0, and Billy 2.0, all named after famous members of the punk rock music scene. The Patti is named for the great Patti Smith, and the original Patti tripod was 3 Legged Thing’s first tripod named after a woman.
The Patti 2.0 tripod arrives on the scene less than a month after 3 Legged Thing announced its Lexie universal L-bracket, designed to work with a vast range of cameras, DSLR and mirrorless alike.
The Three Legged Things Patti 2.0 tripod is available in two colorways, darkness matte black and metallic blue, and comes with a carrying case, Toolz carabiner, hex key, and coin turn multitool. The Patti 2.0 is available now for $130, making it an impressive value in the entry-level tripod space.
